Dancing Raven, owned by Windhaven, notched her first added-money win in Saturday’s $126,200 La Prevoyante Stakes, an Ontario Sires event for three-year-old fillies, at Woodbine.

With Chantal Sutherland at the controls, Dancing Raven, who was third in the Passing Mood Stakes on July 21 and second in the Eternal Search Stakes on August 21, both won by Jacally, turned the tables on her rival in the one-mile turf dash.

After Attitude Included led the eight-horse field through a quarter-mile in :24.35 and a half in :48.32 over a ‘firm’ turf, the daughter of Tomahawk, sitting second, was a looming threat as the field straightened away for the lengthy stretch drive.

Dancing Raven, under a drive, posted a 1 ¼-length win, getting the mile in 1:36.07.

Attitude Included, along the rail, came back on to secure second, while mutuel favourite Jacally was third. “I think she got a very good ride from Chantal,” said owner-breeder Bill Graham. “It’s pretty nice.”

Trained by Mike Doyle, Dancing Raven, unraced at two, evened her battle with Jacally at two wins apiece, after nosing out the daughter of Bold Executive for the win in a seven-furlong Polytrack race at Woodbine on July 1. “She just seems to have matured a bit,” said Doyle, of the bay filly, who won her career bow on June 9 before doubling up in the aforementioned score on July 1. “She’s grown up. She’s starting to put things together in the morning. Week in, week out, she’s getting better.”

Dancing Raven paid $7.30, $5.10 and $2.90, combining with Attitude Included ($17.40, $5.90) for a $101.10 exactor. Jacally ($2.20) completed a $159.60 triactor. The $1 superfecta returned $374.65.
