Ontario Racing would like to notify Thoroughbred breeders that the deadline for registering foals to receive payments through the Ontario Live Foal Program has been extended to June 30, 2021 from the previously scheduled date of March 31, 2021.
Through Enhanced HIP (EHIP) funding, the Ontario Live Foal Program further incentivizes and assists Thoroughbred breeders throughout the province who have had live foals in 2020. A total of $300,000 has been allocated to the Ontario Live Foal Program for 2021. This program reflects Ontario Racing’s ongoing commitment in securing a strong foundation for the future of the province’s breeding industry.
Due to the timing of these payments and the term of the EHIP contract, the amount of the payment has been set at $325 per foal. In order to receive the funds, foals, which must be reported by June 30, 2021, need to be registered with the Jockey Club and subsequently approved as a Registered Ontario Bred.
Breeders are also required to fill out the 2020 Ontario Resident Mare Declaration Form (Form). Please email or mail completed forms by June 30, 2021 to:
