For the first time, CTHS Ontario will conduct the fall mixed sale as an online auction featuring weanlings, yearlings, broodmares, horses of racing age and stallion seasons.

Entries are being accepted now for the digital sale that will run from November 21 to 26.

The CTHS Ontario said in a release, “This will be a new experience for everyone and we are confident that our members, breeders, sellers and buyers will appreciate the new direction for the mixed sale and the many benefits and advantages an online sale offers.”

Digital horse sales arrived during the COVID-19 pandemic. Fasig-Tipton introduced digital sales in 2022, noting, “evolving with the changing landscape of Thoroughbred sales, Fasig-Tipton began its digital sales to offer clients a secure, convenient way to offer their horses to the public, no matter where their horses are located.”

Recognizing a need for breeding stock that is for sale to be made available to potential buyers is one of the reasons for hosting an online auction. The CTHS has had a mixed sale at the Woodbine sale pavilion almost every year since its inception.

Among the broodmares offered in the past two years was Malibu Sunrise, who became the dam of multiple stakes winner Olivia Rose. Malibu Sunrise sold for $9,500 to Trinity Racing. Last Year, the mare In the Slips, by More Than Ready, sold for $2,500 to Tara Horse Farm. The mare’s two-year-old of this year, Beach Cricket, finished a fast-closing third in her debut last weekend.

The CTHS will be accepting entries for the sale until November 13. “We prioritize transparency, trust and an outstanding experience, allowing you to view pedigrees, photos, and videos all from the convenience of your home.”
