The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) reports that as of June 30th, there are three confirmed cases of Equine Infectious Anemia (EIA) in Alberta and five in Manitoba.

Because EIA is a reportable disease in Canada, the CFIA maintains a surveillance program and lists current confirmed cases online.

According to the CFIA, three equine cases were reported in the Beaver Country area of Alberta on June 9th. In Manitoba, also on June 9th, three cases were confirmed in the rural municipality of St. Clements and on June 23rd, two more infected horses were reported in the rural municipality of Armstrong.
