Canadian champion ESCAPE CLAUSE has arrived at Town and Country Farm in Kentucky to await the Fasig-Tipton “Night of the Stars’ sale on Nov. 5 in Lexington.

The tough and honest Manitoba-bred, considered the greatest racehorse to come from that province, will be offered for sale by owners Barry Arnason, True North Stable and Don Schnell following a tremendous racing career that began after they bought the Cam Zipricak-Arnason bred for $5,000.

A winner of 20 races and virtually unbeatable at Assininboia Downs, her home track, Escape Clause took her show on the road late in 2018 . She won the Grade 3 La Canada at Santa Anita, the Harry Henson Stakes at Sunland and ran huge races in the Grade 1 Apple Blossom at Oaklawn when edged by the very good Midnight Bisou. Escape Clause was second in the Grade 2 Delaware Handicap and recently finished fourth in the Grade 3 Locust Grove at Churchill Downs.

Her earnings stand at $866,100 (US). She was the 2018 Champion Older Mare at the Sovereign Awards.

The 5-year-old is by Going Commando from Danger Pay by Circulating.

Ivan Biggs from Assiniboia Downs’ The Insider recently interviewed trainer Don Schnell:

“It was the saddest day of my life loading her in a van and watching her go,” Schnell told The Insider from a training centre in Kentucky where Escape Clause has been based for the past five weeks. “She’s a real sweetheart.”
