June 27 is a long way off, long enough we hope, that racing will  back to normal (like, people allowed on the backstretch, in the stands!) so here is a Queen’s Plate update three months+ from the big race.

HALO AGAIN, the American-based colt owned by Winchell Thoroughbreds and Will Horton, trained by Steve Asmussen, had a reasonable effort in the Grade 3 Jack Ruby Steaks at Turfway Park on Mar. 14. The son of Speightstown, who won the Coronation Futurity last fall at Woodbine, (yes, there is that wacky trend of no Coronation winner to take the Plate since ’75), finished fourth, beaten 7 3/4 lengths in the Jack Ruby, posting a career-best 76 Beyer Speed Figure according to Daily Racing Form.

Bred by Anderson Farms Ontario, the colt remains at the top of the Canadian Thoroughbred Queen’s Plate list, although there is work to do from him yet.
