Sue Leslie, the President of the Horsemen’s Benevolent and Protective Association of Ontario (HBPA)) would like to assure horse people that racing is going forward for 2011.
“Rumours circulating regarding racing are simply not true”, said Leslie, “the Fort Erie Live Racing Consortium (FELRC) had some administrative issues to deal with this past month that have not been resolved.”
The Board of the HBPA approved a grant of $150,000 and a short term loan of $300,000 loan to assist the FELRC with a cash flow shortage. The loan will be repaid by August 2011. The Board looks forward to the continued support of the horsemen and women of Fort Erie, the Town of Fort Erie and the Province in this coming year.
