Ontario-bred MARTINI SUE, owned by Mad River Farm and a $20,000 CTHS Ontario sales yearling in 2018, fought hard on the pace and won race 1 at 1 1/16 miles at Woodbine Aug. 28 to give trainer Kevin Attard his 500th career win.

Kevin has had a stellar training career to this point, dating back to the days when he trained for the famed Knob Hill Stables and Steve Stavro and to current day where he has one of the biggest stables at Woodbine. Nominated for a Sovereign Award in 2019 as Outstanding Trainer, Kevin trains multiple champion Starship Jubilee and has Queen’s Plate contenders Clayton and Merveilleux in his barn this year.

Race 2- MY CANTATA, owned and bred by Bruno Schickedanz, won for the 11th time in her career in this $5,400 claiming race and she is trained by Norm McKnight and was the second straight winner on the day for rider Justin Stein. The 8-year-old mare is by Sardegna.

STOLEN IDENTITY won for the 5th time in his 16th start in race 3, also a $5,000 claiming race. The fast son of Old Forester is owned by Natural Eight Stable and trained by Billy Tharrenos. Emma-Jayne Wilson rode.

Wilson came right back to guide speed filly EIGHT SPEED to win race 4, a maiden race for $14,000. The John Carey-bred gal by Souper Speedy is owned by Eight Star Racing Stables Inc. and trained by Vito Armata. The filly was in the care of her third trainer in her 5th career race.

Souper Speedy is the sire of VICTOR’S DESTINY who won race 5 for $10,000 claiming. The 4-year-old is owned and trainer by Zeljko Krcmar and Simon Husbands rode.

BIG MAMBA won for the second time in 2020 in race 6 for Michael Lay and D Mac Racing Stable. The Colonel John filly is 3 for 15 in her career and Patrick Husbands rode for trainer Don MacRae.

On the turf for race 7 and a shrewd ride by Steve Bahen allowed the very quick MARTEN RIVER to gallop along on a slow pace in this 7 furlong turf race and hold on to win for owner and trainer David Bell. Bred By Jennifer Leuty, this 6-year-old gelding by Silent Name is 6 for 26 in his career and his earnings are over $200,000 US.

For the second straight race day a Mark Casse trainee won the final race of the day. MUSKOKA STORM, owned by Conrad Farms, was in a tough pace battle in this maiden race for $25,000 claiming but held everyone off to win under Rafael Hernandez. It was the 9th career race for the son of Violence bred by Josham Farms.
