Toronto, ON – Legal Move and Yummy With Butter look to utilize their late-running tactics to good effect in Saturday’s $125,000 New Providence Stakes, at Woodbine.

Owned by Bruno Schickedanz and trained by Mark Fournier, Legal Move and Yummy With Butter bring a combined 14 career wins and over $1-million in purse earnings to the New Providence, a six-furlong race over the Toronto oval’s Polytrack. Legal Move, a five-year-old son of Bold Executive, heads into the New Providence off a fifth-place finish in the six-furlong Jacques Cartier Stakes on April 25. “I thought he’d run better,” said Fournier, of the 10-time winner’s performance. “He only finished 3 ¼-lengths back and he caught in behind other horses. He liked to have a clear run and it didn’t work out that way.”

After a dull seventh-place finish in the Pelican Stakes at Tampa Bay Downs on January 10 to launch his 2009 campaign, Legal Move finished third, just a head back of the winner, on April 5. “He’s sound and he’s quite full of himself,” said Fournier, of the Ontario-bred bay who won five races from 11 starts last year. “He’s a class horse. He’s all business and very consistent. What I like about him is that whenever he has an off effort he always comes back strong.”

In 27 career starts, Legal Move has 10 wins, four seconds and four thirds, along with $852,323.

His stablemate, who’ll run as a separate betting interest in the New Providence, is Yummy With Butter. The son of Silvador finished fourth in his 2009 debut, rallying from ninth to end up 4 ¼-lengths back at the wire. “’Yummy’ is doing really good,” remarked Fournier, of the five-year-old dark bay. “He veered out at the start of his last race. But that’s him. He’s a bit of an oddball.”

He’s also consistent.

In 16 career starts, Yummy With Butter has four wins, four seconds and four thirds, as well as $230,324 in purse earnings. The gelding has two wins, one second and two thirds from six starts at six panels. “If he gets an honest pace, he’ll come running,” offered Fournier. “He’s had some good breezes heading into this race.”

Both of Fournier’s entrants would appreciate sharp early splits. “That’s what we’re looking for, some quick fractions for them to run at. If we don’t get that, they will be handcuffed trying to run them down.”
