Adena Springs North will not be standing as many stallions in 2020 as it has in previous years according to farm manager David Bates and the first move came down Tuesday with the announcement of the sale of GIANT GIZMO. The Leading Canadian sire and Grade 3 winner has been sold to top Panama stud Harás Cerro Punta.

In a deal brokered by Alberto Paz Rodriguez, the former Adena Springs North stallion will commence stud duties in Panama in 2020. The 15-year-old Giant’s Causeway son is the sire of nine stakes winners and sixteen stakes horses, led by Grade 3 winners Ami’s Gizmo and Brooklyn’sway.

The leading sire of his generation in Canada from 2013 to 2015, the stallion found early success when he sired two Canadian classic winners in his first three crops with Ami’s Gizmo and Brooklyn’sway. The stallion’s success continued with his later crops when finishing fourth on Canada’s general sires list in 2015, second on the list in 2016 and ending the season in the top five the next two years.

Giant Gizmo has sired 30 winners in 2019, led by last week’s OLG Halton Stakes winner Cooler Mike.

Adena Springs North will also be retiring some of its older stallions as it streamlines its Ontario stallion roster for 2020.
