A dark bay gelding by leading Manitoba sire Going Commando from the winning Langfuhr mare Mariaburg topped the August 23 CTHS Manitoba yearling sale at Red River Exhibition Grounds.

Consigned by Kelly Halliday, the gelding, named Bojo Jammer, brought a bid of $16,200 from Barry Anderson, agent.

Bojo Jammer is a half brother to Grade 3 stakes winner Acting Naughty and his dam Mariaburg is a full sister to Canadian classic winner Marlang, winner of the Breeders’ Stakes.

There were 29 yearlings offered in the sale and 14 sold for gross sales of $62,000, an average of $4,428. These numbers were down lightly from 2019 when the average was $4,520 when 26 sold for $117,550.

Texas Mickey, a colt by Going Commando – Pillow Book, by Maria’s Mon was purchased for $11,500 from Ziprick Thoroughbreds, agent by Wayne King, agent. The bay colt’s dam is a daughter of Grade 3 stakes winner Melhor Ainda.

The top filly was a daughter of Ontario sire Conquest Curlinate from the mare Note to Self by Notebook who was sold by Larry Falloon for $4,900 to a partnership of Falloon and Elton Dickey.

The sale was held with safety protocols in place due to the COVID-19 pandemic and online bidding was made available.
