Rexdale, ON – The CTHS Winter Mixed Sale concluded its one-day session on November 28th with a dramatic increase in gross sales.  By day’s end, 110 horses sold for $590,100, up 77% from the 101 sold for $332,900 last year. This year’s sale average of $5,364 increased 59% from the $3,296 recorded in 2008.

Topping the sale was Grade 1-placed stallion prospect Kentucky Bear who sold for $100,000, to Bear Stables Ltd. and Partners. The four-year-old Mr. Greeley colt was consigned by Cara Bloodstock, (Bernard McCormack), Agent and will stand in Ontario.

Keys to Heaven, a Sky Classic mare in foal to Grade 1 winner Corinthian, topped the broodmare portion of the sale, purchased for $23,000 by Josham Farms Ltd. and consigned by Sam-Son Farm. In the weanling portion of the sale, a Bold Executive colt was purchased for $18,000 by Huntington Stud Farm, through the consignment of Gardiner Farms Ltd. While in the yearling session, a Stormy Atlantic colt consigned by Hill ‘N’ Dale Sales Agency, Agent, sold to Mike Pino, Agent for David Ross for $27,000. Rounding off the day was the purchase of Mr. Turnabout, a Bold n’ Flashy gelding who topped the Horses of Racing Age session, selling for $14,000 to Reade Baker, Agent. The recent Woodbine maiden winner was consigned by Cara Bloodstock, Agent.

“In addition to the active participation from previous buyers, we were pleased to see so many new faces out to our Winter Sale this year,” said Julie Coulter, General Manager of the Ontario CTHS.
