The British Columbia racing season at Hastings Racecourse has its final day of racing on October 22 and the $50,000 Ascot Graduation Stakes and $50,000 Fantasy Stakes headline the nine-race card.

The race for leading trainer of the Hastings meeting will come down to the wire on closing day with Edgar Mendoza, who has 38 wins, and Barbara Heads, 37 wins; both have plenty of starters.

The Ascot Graduation, at 1 1/16 miles for 2-year-olds, has two starters each from Mendoza and Heads in the six-horse field. LEGACY SQUARE, a neck away from being undefeated in all four races (all stakes) will be the strong favourite for Mendoza who trains the son of Lent for Tod Mountain Thoroughbreds

Following the Ascot Graduation, which is race 4 on Saturday, is the Fantasy Stakes for 2-year-old fillies. Two-time stakes winner LOVEABOVEANDBEYOND makes her first start since Aug. 22 when she won the CTHS Sales Stakes and she tries three turns for the first time in the Fantasy. The daughter of young sire Counterforce is trained by Mark Cloutier for Marty Miller.
