One horse was killed in a barn fire in Winfield, British Columbia, on February 2, 2016.
It is reported that the owner of the private facility was able to free three horses from the blaze, but that one perished. Firefighters say chickens, ducks and two cats also escaped unharmed.
Space heaters were being used in the barn and it is believed one was knocked over, starting the fire.
