Toronto, ON – The Ontario Quarter Horse Racing Industry Development Program is inviting applications from individuals interested in serving on the Quarter Horse Racing Industry Advisory Group. The deadline for applications in the following categories is December 31, 2009.

• Thoroughbred Representative (1)

• Standardbred Representative (1)

• Ontario representative of the AQHA (1)

The Advisory Group was formally established in 2008 and provides ongoing input and recommendations to the Ontario Racing Commission (Program Administrator) on the continued development of the Program.

The Advisory Group is comprised of nine representatives:

Ontario representative from the American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA) – 1

Ajax Downs – 1

Industry member “at large” – 1

Industry representatives serve for a two-year term. Quarter Horse Racing Industry Advisory Group members are expected to provide recommendations in the best interest of the industry as a whole, and applicants will be selected based on:

• Broad industry experience on multi levels

• Credibility within the industry

• Influence and recognition in the industry

• Expertise useful to the process

The Advisory Group will meet quarterly to review Programs and to make recommendations to the Program Administrator. The Advisory Group will be responsible for providing input and advice to the Program Administrator in the following areas:

• Developing benchmarks, targets and expected outcomes

• Reviewing budgets and annual performance

• Reviewing and presenting recommendations that reflect the changing environment and business needs of the Ontario Quarter Horse Racing industry

• Reviewing the Breeding Program eligibility criteria, to ensure these are in-line with goals and objectives of The Plan

• Discussing policies and protocols relating to The Program Registry

• Championing The Program within the racing industry

Please include a resume outlining your affiliations, experience with similar initiatives, and a general profile of your role(s) within the industry, as well as your preference of a one or two year term of service.
