William Decoursey and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins’ undefeated British Columbia-bred will be heavily favoured to keep things going when she tries 1 1/16 miles in the $75,000 Fantasy Stakes at Hastings Raceourse on Sunday.
The 2-year-old by Sungold (a son of A.P. Indy) from the Louis Quatorze mare Montero has won her four races, includng three stakes, by a combined 31 1/4 lengths. She has just three rivals in the Fantasy including Emerald Downs shipper Miss Prospector, by Harbor the Gold.
Monday’s ASCOT GRADUATION STAKES at 1 1/16 miles worth $75,000 has a big field of 12 with the top three from the Jack Diamond Futurity among the group. Disqualified winner BAKTURA (Bakken), a BC-bred for Canyon Farms and trainer Craig McPherson, will try to get his Futurity win back and he has the rail post.
Synergy (Sungold), a homebred for Russ and Lois Bennett, was placed first in the Jack Diamond and he shows a late running style that gives him an advantage over some of he speedy ones and Capilano Canyon (Abraaj) was a close third for Dr. Karl Chan, David Forster and partner.
