Race 5 – BREEDERS CUP JUVENILE TURF SPRINT – GRADE 1- 5 FUR. TURF

There is $1 million offered for this 2-year-old dash and at such a short distance, the start and trip will mean everything.

9 – FOUR WHEEL DRIVE, by American Pharoah, looks most likely based on his 2 for 2 record in turf sprints but he is hardly a certainty with some interesting Europeans in the field.

4 – DREAM SHOT is a long striding sprinter who gave rival A ‘Ali a good try in Group 2 Flying Childers. A long-shot play.

10 – A ‘ALI is getting Lasix like most of the Euros and this guy has 3 wins in 5 starts for trainer Simon Crisford and Frankie Dettori rides.

4 – CHIMNEY ROCK has improving numbers and has made a nice appearance for Kentucky based Mike Maker.

Race 6 – BREEDERS’ CUP JUVENILE TURF – 1 mile

12 – ARIZONA, with Ryan Moore for Aidan O’Brien, has been chasing who most overseas call the ‘next Frankel’, Pinatubo. Post 12 is not ideal to be sure and he has never tried one mile. So he gets a slight nod, but there are other interesting ones.

5 – VITALOGY had a troubled run in Woodbine’s Grade 1 Summer Stakes and then just missed in the Bourbon at Keeneland. He will be flying late.

4 – DECORATED INVADER has looked super all week and he won the Summer Stakes, has Irad Ortiz up

14 – HIT THE ROAD is one of my favourites, well, was, until he drew post 14 but he will drop back and come from the back. He has made a great appearance.

2 – STRUCTOR – Chad Brown, unbeaten 2-year-old going forward.

RACE 7 – JUVENILE FILLIES 1 1/16 MILES

I can’t buy into the favourite Donna Veloce with one race, a fast, front running sprint win as she won’t offer value, but this Uncle Mo gal sure was impressive. She also has Santa Anita dirt experience which will be important based on what locals have said about the deep surface. The other fave, BAST, set a slow pace in her big win.

2 – TWO SIXTY was one of the Breeders’ Cup horses who caught my eye this week with her super workout over the Santa Anita dirt in 48 flat. Mark Casse trainee is by Canadian-bred Horse of the Year Uncaptured.

4 – BRITISH IDIOM, a daughter of Woodbine 2-year-old stakes winner Rose and Shone, ran huge wot win the Alcibiades at Keeneland.

1 – DONNA VELOCE could be any kind of course, so I will toss her in.

8 – K P DREAMIN will benefit from a hot pace as she has a good rallying style.

Race 8 – JUVENILE FILLIES TURF – 1 mile turf

Europeans look very strong in this race

5 – DAAHYEH has looked great in training for Roger Varian, she just won a Group 2 and she has been pointed to this race. William Buick is on the Bated Breath gal.

9 – ALBIGNA is from the Niarchos family who don’t miss with too many of their Breeders’ Cup starters. Group 1 winner by Zoffany.

3 – SHADN zoomed around the turf on Wednesday and is a Group 2 winner by No Nay Never, trying one mile for the first time.

11 – SHARING is impeccably bred and won the Selima with first time blinkers.

RACE 9 – JUVENILE

The scratching of Maxfield took some fun out of the race but it’s a 2-horse race:

1 – DENNIS’ MOMENT has freak written all over him and this son of Tiznow has an amazing stride and had a super Santa Anita workout Oct. 25 in 46 3/5.

6 – EIGHT RINGS, co-owned by Toronto’s John Fielding, won the American Pharoah at Santa Anita for Bob Baffert by 6 lengths.

5 – SCABBARD had a troubled outing behind Dennis in the Iroquois.
