Justify emerged from the dense fog as the winner of the $1.5 million Preakness Stakes at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore on May 19, 2018.

With Hall of Fame jockey Mike Smith in the irons, the undefeated 2-5 favourite battled it out nose-to-nose with Kentucky Derby runner up, Good Magic. In a nail-biting finish, Justify surged forward to take the race, leaving Good Magic trailing in fourth, and beating Bravazo by a half-length. Tenfold finished in third by a neck.

Justify is now in line to claim the Triple Crown, last won by American Pharoah in 2015. The two superstars share a trainer in Bob Baffert, who helped end the 37-year-Triple Crown drought with American Pharoah’s win.
