With one session remaining of the 2021 KEENELAND NOVEMBER BREEDING SALE, the Horses of Racing Age division, there have been some Canadians buying mares and weanlings through the first nine sessions of the auction.
Since the November Sale began Nov. 10, 2,239 horses have grossed $194,463,100, for an average of $86,853 and a median of $40,000.
Through the corresponding period in 2020, 1,984 horses sold for $149,709,700, for an average of $75,459 and a median of $28,500.
From David Anderson’s Anderson Farms and Shannondoe Farm of Arika Everatt-Meeuse and family, both operations in St. Thomas, Ontario, there were almost a dozen Canadian buyers on the sales sheets.
TERENCE GREER, co-owner and breeder of Grade 1 Woodbine Mile winner Town Cruise, spent some of the winnings with a couple of purchases including a mare, WINDWARD SANDS, by Scat Daddy, in foal to Vekoma.
Bernard McCormack’s CARA BLOODSTOCK purchased WEEKEND IN MALIBU, a daughter of Old Forester that he bred in Ontario. McCormack wrote on Facebook:
