Mensa started strong and finished stronger to take the $125,000 Victoria Stakes for two-year-olds on Friday afternoon at Woodbine.

Under Patrick Husbands, Mensa emerged with the lead after an early scuffle with a trio of rivals and held a two-length lead on Shadow Factor, who was a head in front of Sol de Verano, through an opening quarter in :22.80.

Mensa continued to run unfettered on the front end in the 5 ½-furlong sprint over the main track, as Husbands and the dark bay began to pull away with ease from the field heading into the turn for home.
