Michael Williams, best known as Fuzzy by the Woodbine community, is the recipient of the 2019 Outstanding Groom Award, the Jockey Club of Canada announced.

Williams has worked on the Woodbine backstretch for over 20 years. His current employer, multiple graded stakes-winning trainer Michael J. Doyle, and previous employer, Daniel J. Vella, are among the accomplished trainers he has worked for over the years. Williams has groomed King Ruckus, 1994 Champion Sprinter and Champion Older Horse, and Touch Gold as a two-year-old, among other successful horses.

The Jockey Club of Canada also announced the finalists for the 2019 Sovereign Awards Media categories.

The judging for the 2019 Media Awards was once again performed by Professors of the Journalism Program at the School of Media Studies & Information Technology, Humber Institute of Technology & Advanced Learning, Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

The Jockey Club of Canada will announce the winners of all the Sovereign Awards at the 45th Annual Awards Ceremony on Thursday, April 16, 2020.

Tickets to the 45th Annual Sovereign Awards Ceremony are $250 each, with tables of 10 discounted to $2,000. Early-Bird tickets are also available for a discounted price of $225 until March 15, 2020.
