MOHAYMEN, a 10-year-old son of Tapit and one of the leading second-crop sires in North America in 2022, has moved from Shadwell Farm in Lexington, Kentucky to stand at Sherry McLean’s Northern Dawn Stables in Hillsburgh, Ontario. His fee will be $5,000 CAN.

A $2.2 million yearling purchase, Mohaymen was a two-time graded 2 stakes winner at 2 and 3. The grey was undefeated as a 2-year-old with wins in his 6 furlong debut, the one mile Nashua Stakes (G2) and the 1 1/8 mile Remsen Stakes (G2), both in New York.

As a 3-year -old, Mohaymen, who raced for Shadwell and was trained by Kiaran McLaughlin, remained undefeated as he began that year with wins in the Holy Bull Stakes at 1 1/16 miles on dirt at Gulfstream Park and the Fountain of Youth Stakes (G2) at 1 1/16 miles, also at Gulfstream. Following a fourth-place finish in the Grade 1 Florida Derby, Mohayemn was a closing fourth in the Kentucky Derby (G1) to Nyquist, Exaggerator and Gun Runner.

Mohaymen retired following four outings as a 4-year-old and he entered stud in 2018. From his first crop he has sired Grade 2 stakes winner Elm River, who won the Sorrento Stakes as a juvenile and multiple stakes winner Mowins. Through last year he has sired 40 winners from 76 runners and his 2022 progeny earnings of $2.05 million put him in the top 15 second-crop sires.

Moyahmen’s dam, Justwhistledixie, is a Grade 2 stakes winner and she has produced two graded stakes winners also by Tapit and Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1) winner and sire New Year’s Day.
