Queen’s Plate and Woodbine Oaks winner MOIRA leads a small Canadian contingent to the Breeders’ Cup World Championships next week at Keeneland racecourse in Kentucky. The 14-race Breeders’ Cup, in its 39th year, is headlined by the $6 million Classic on November 5 and a field of nine has been entered for the 1 1/4 mile dirt race including unbeaten FLIGHTLINE.

Ontario-bred Moira, trained by Kevin Attard for X-Men Racing, Madaket Stables and SF Bloodstock and Roger Attfield-trained Lady Speightspeare, owned and bred by Charles Fipke, are in the Maker’s Mark Filly & Mare Turf at 1 3/8 miles on Nov. 5. It is the 6th race on the second day of the Breeders’ Cup extravaganza. Moira was recently a troubled second in the Grade 1 E.P. Taylor Stakes at Woodbine in her grass debut to Rougir (Fr), who is also in the Filly & Mare Turf.

Fifteen fillies and mares were entered in the Filly & Mares Turf and fourteen will be allowed to race. Dreamloper has first preference in the Mile which would allow Mise En Scene to draw into the field.
