Lexie Lou, Wonder Gadot … No Time?

The pink colours of owner Gary Barber have flown across the finish line in front in hundreds of races at Woodbine, and his fillies have done some big things, too. The aforementioned pair of Queen’s Plate winners were Barber fillies trained by Mark Casse and Lexie Lou won the Woodbine Oaks, while Wonder Gadot was second in the Oaks.

On Sunday, Barber’s NO TIME (Not This Time – Count to Three by Red Ransom), charged to a 3 3/4 length win in the $500,000 Woodbine Oaks at 1 1/8 miles at 6-to-1 odds, leading two other Casse gals who finished second and third, Shifty and Winterberry.

US rider John Velazquez, who had a mixed bag of results riding at Woodbine on Sunday, had No Time three wide into the backstretch and chasing a strong pace. In fact, the fractions of 22.97, 46.47 and 1:10.97 were much faster than the pace of the Plate Trial a race earlier.

Still, No Time continued the pursuit wide around the turn while stablemate and favourite Shifty moved up to the lead along the rail under Sahin Civaci. Shifty and Winterberry were one-two until No Time joined the pair and took off to a big win in 1:50.14.

Trainer Mark Casse told Canadian Thoroughbred the King’s Plate on August 16 would be next for the bay filly, who was winning for the third time in eight starts.

No Time won her maiden in a 1 1/16 mile turf race last fall, was fourth in the Cup and Saucer and then unplaced on the Grade 3 Mazarine Stakes. After a dull turf run at Gulfstream Park in April, she came back and won an allowance race on Tapeta by four lengths. In her most recent race, No Time fought jockey Civaci and wound up fourth in the Grade 3 Selene Stakes behind three American-breds.

Canadian Thoroughbred did a deep dive into No Time’s impeccable pedigree this week (here).

Bred by James Everatt, the late Janeane Everatt and Arika Everatt Meeuse, No Time is a half-sister to Grade 1 winners Count Again and Ransom the Moon.
