Just three tracks are holding Thoroughbred races currently in Canada (Century Mile begins June 21) but there were a bunch of horses who ran fast last week.

EARLY LEADERS and 4 days

It is very early but three riders share 6 wins to begin the meeting – KAZUSHI KIMURA, JUSTIN STEIN and EMMA-JAYNE WILSON.

MARK CASSE has 6 wins to begin the meeting while COLEBROOK FARMS has purses of $110,00 to lead owners.

ASSINIBOIA DOWNS has a fierce rider battle already as both ANTONIO WHITEHALL and RAFAEL ZENTENO have 12 wins each from just over 50 mounts.

JERRY GOURNEAU has saddled nine winners early in the meeting.

At FORT ERIE, Joe Humber and Elliot Sullivan have saddled four winners each while four jockeys are tied with 4 winners: Melanie Pinto, Emile Ramsammy, Helen Vanek and Sunny Singh.

Racing at Woodbine begins a 4-day racing schedule this week (Fridays are added) and this will continue to year’s end.
