The catalogue for the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company’s 2022 Winter Mixed Sale is now available via the OBS website at obssales.com.
The sale begins on Tuesday, January 25th at 11:00 a.m. with Hip No.’s 1 -197 cataloged in the Consignor Preferred Session. The Horses of Racing Age Session, cataloged as Hip No.’s 251 – 329 begins immediately following the conclusion of the Preferred Session. The Open Session, with Hip No.’s 401 – 638 cataloged, is set for Wednesday, January 26th and will also begin at 11:00 a.m.
The Under Tack Show for the Horses of Racing Age Section is set for Monday, January 24th at 9:00 a.m. The Under Tack Show and Sale will be streamed live via the OBS website.
Sam-Son Farms has entered a few horses of racing age, most notably the 4-year-old colt TIDAL FORCES, at one time a contender for the 2021 Queen’s Plate at Woodbine. The son of Malibu Moon – Ain’t No Tellin by Dynaformer won the first two starts of his career last spring: a Gulfstream Park turf route and a Woodbine allowance race on Tapeta. He finished fifth in the Marine Stakes, ninth in the Plate, and sixth in the Prince of Wales on dirt at Fort Erie. The colt had a short layoff and was a close fifth in his final outing of 2021 behind stakes winner War Bomber.
Tidal Forces’ winning older half-brother SMALL TALK is also among the small group of Sam-Son horses entered in the sale.
There are 257 yearlings entered in the OBS sale by a diverse group of proven and promising sires. Accelerate, Always Dreaming, Bucchero, Collected, Girvin, Goldencents, Good Magic, Good Samaritan, Gun Runner, Hard Spun, Khozan, Laoban, Maclean’s Music, Mendelssohn, Mo Town, Outwork, Practical Joke, Tapwrit, The Factor, and Unified are represented.
First crop sires with yearling include Audible, Breaking Lucky, Catalina Cruiser, Catholic Boy, Mitole, Omaha Beach, Solomini, St Patrick’s Day, Vino Rosso, World of Trouble and Yoshida (JPN).
The sale also features mares in foal to an outstanding roster of new sires: Complexity, Echo Town, Gift Box, Global Campaign, Instagrand, Mr. Money, Spun to Run, Thousand Words, Vekoma, War of Will, and Win Win Win.

A total of 52 horses have been supplemented to the sale, highlighted by a pair of stakes-placed newly-turned 3-year-olds. Hip No. 334, Winging It, a colt by Into Mischief, was second in Gulfstream’s Proud Man Stakes. A half-brother to two stakes winners, he’s out of Campionessa, by A.P. Indy. Hip No. 349, Fifth Anniversary, a daughter of Runhappy out of My Lady Lauren, by Hard Spun, was second in the Woodbine Cares Stakes.
The Racing Age section’s optional Under Tack Show is scheduled for Monday, January 24th at 9:00 a.m.

Supplements to the Winter Mixed Sale are still being accepted. Their catalogue pages will not be available in the printed supplement, but will be available in the online catalogue and in print at the sales grounds.
