The Queen’s Plate champion One Bad Boy took to the track on Wednesday morning at Woodbine Racetrack in preparation for the second jewel of the OLG Canadian Triple Crown.
The three-year-old son of Twirling Candy, who has remained at Woodbine following his impressive Plate triumph on June 29 over 1-1/4 miles on the Tapeta, breezed an easy half-mile in :51.20 over the synthetic course today under Jerome Lermyte.
Owned by Sayjay Racing LLC, Greg Hall and Brooke Hubbard, One Bad Boy is being pointed to the $400,000 Prince of Wales Stakes next on Tuesday, July 23 at Fort Erie Race Track. California-based trainer Richard Baltas weighed in on the Ontario-bred’s preparations for the second leg of the OLG Canadian Triple Crown which will be contested over 1-3/16 miles on the dirt course.
The third jewel is the $400,000 Breeders’ Stakes back at Woodbine on Saturday, August 17 over the E.P. Taylor Turf Course at a distance of 1-1/2 miles.
A $500,000 bonus will be awarded to the owners of any horse that can sweep all three legs of the OLG Canadian Triple Crown in 2019.
