Supporters of the Ontario horse racing industry are encouraged to attend a rally on August 30th led by Conservative MPP Lisa MacLeod at Queen’s Park in Toronto.

MPP MacLeod has strongly opposed the elimination of the slots at racetracks program and has spoken out passionately in support of the horse racing industry and rural Ontario, in the media, at Queen’s Park and at home in Nepean-Carleton, where 1,000 jobs at stake surrounding the Rideau Carleton Raceway.

On Thursday, MPP MacLeod will call on the Auditor General to review the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation’s new gaming plans, including its revenue and expenditure projections, mental health and addictions impact and its effect on Ontario’s horse racing industry. Further, she will reiterate the Ontario PC Caucus call for a referendum to take place in any affected municipality where the OLG is proposing a new casino in order for the community to determine whether it is welcome or not.

There will be a bus leaving Ottawa at 7:00 a.m. from Fallowfield Park and Ride Station. Members of the public are invited to join in support of MPP MacLeod’s motion at Queen’s Park at 12:00 p.m., followed by the introduction of her private members motion and debate, along with light refreshments afterward. The bus will depart from Toronto at 5:00 p/m.
