Moment Of Majesty to Run in Queen’s Plate

– Trainer Sue Leslie, who also owns a piece of the filly Moment of Majesty, today announced that she will start the Woodbine Oaks runner-up in Sunday’s 151st Queen’s Plate at Woodbine.

Moment of Majesty, a bay daughter of Saint Liam, came to prominence when she finished second, beaten a head by fellow Plate rival Roan Inish, in the Oaks earlier this month.

Leslie, along with partners Curtis Joseph and Don Meehan, ruminated about the decision to pay the $25,000 supplemental nomination fee to run in the $1 million classic over the last week.

“It probably would have been better to have given the filly another week, and the Bison City (July 11, middle jewel of the Triple Tiara) was very attractive,” said Leslie.  “But you don’t often get the chance to run in the Queen’s Plate.”

Rob Landry, who won the Plate in 2004 with Niigon, will get the call.

Bilodeau is the Honourary Drawmaster for Plate

– Alexandre Bilodeau, who collected Canada’s first ever Olympic gold medal on home soil with a win in the Moguls event at the recent 2010 Vancouver Winter Games, is the honourary drawmaster for this year’s Queen’s Plate Post Position breakfast draw, Thursday at Woodbine.

He will assist in determining the post position order and speak briefly of his participation in horse racing at the 9:30 a.m. media conference.

CBC to Show Queen’s Plate

– CBC will televise the Queen’s Plate in a special HD presentation from 4:30 pm ET – 6:00 pm ET.  Post time for the race is 5:38 pm ET (Race 10).
