The complete dispersal of horses owned by PETER REDEKOP will mark the end of an era in British Columbia racing. Redekop, whose horses have won well over 500 races and dozens of graded stakes races, is offering his small racing stable at the Keeneland Horses of Racing Age sale on November 12 in Lexington. Redekop also has the BC champion AVANA (Vino Rosso) entered in The November Sale on November 3 and the More Than Ready filly Avoir entered in the Keeneland Breeding Stock Sale, which runs from Nov. 4-11.

Redekop, who hails from Vancouver, BC, started just 33 horses in 2025, down from his usual average of 100 starters. His horses won 10 races this year, mostly stakes wins, and the stable star was Avana, a leading contender for Champion Older Mare Main Track in Canada this year. Avana, bred by Bryan and Carol Anderson in BC, has won 11 of 15 career starts. She won four stakes in 2024 including the BC Oaks. In 2025 she has also won four stakes races at Hastings Racecourse and Century Mile. Her career earnings stand at $267,300 (USD).

Avana’s dam Princess Julia is a daughter of Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1) winner FOLKLORE.

Avana and her younger half-sister Avoir, who sells at the Keeneland Sale, are offered as racing or broodmare prospects.

At the Keeneland Horses of Racing Age sale, Redekop is offering his BC Derby (G3) and Canadian Derby (G3) winner AUGUST RAIN, a homebred son of Sungold who has won eight races and over $290,000 (USD). Redekop is also selling another of his Canadian Derby (G3) winners, ABELIEFINTHISLIVIN (Arrogate)

Also in the Redekop consignment, represented by Indian Creek Farm as agent, is another Arrogate stallion/racing prospect, APPREHEND, a Grade 3 stakes winner of the BC Premier’s Handicap last year.

Redekop, a member of the BC Horse Racing Hall of Fame, got his start in racing in the late 1960s with the late Peter Wall. He has owned many top horses including Canadian champion Hollywood Hit. In 2019, Redekop added $100,000 to the purse of the BC Derby.
