Wintering Incentive Program
2022 Program Rules:
- Total of $5500.00 per qualifying horse available
- The industry Associations, in recognition of the economic realities of wintering and training lower level claiming horses, have implemented a plan to provide an incentive of $5500 for horses that make their last start of 2021 at Hastings for claiming price of $6,250 or less ($8000 or less in the case of BC Breds) and make their first start in 2022 at Hastings at any level. Horses which waiver claim for $6,250 or less in their last start ($8,000 or less in the case of BC Breds) are also eligible.
- To remain eligible a horse must not have started at any other track after the close of the 2021 Hastings season prior to making its first start of 2022 at Hastings.
- When an eligible horse arrives and is stabled at Hastings in 2022 with the intention of racing at the 2022 Hastings Race Meet the papers must be placed with and accepted by the Hastings Race office.
- $3000 will paid on the horses first start of the 2022 and an additional $2,500 will be paid to the owner on the second start.
- The owner must undertake to leave the horse’s papers in the Hastings Race Office until the end of the 2022 Hastings Racing Season and to race the horse exclusively at Hastings Racecourse until the end of the 2022 Hastings Racing season.
- Repayment of all Wintering Incentive money received for the horse will release the papers at any time.
- Horses which start at any racetrack other than at Hastings after the date of August 12, 2021 are not eligible for this program.
BC Racing Associations Announce Yearling Incentive Program For 2021
Program Rules 2021-2022:
- To be eligible you must be a BC Resident.
- For the purposes of this program, Canadian and US dollars are considered at par, e.g., $15,000 US will generate a payment of $7,500 Canadian.
- Buyers who purchase a yearling at auction from October 1st, 2021 to December31, 2021 outside of British Columbia will receive 50% of the purchase price up to a maximum of $7,500 Canadian dollars.
- Fillies will receive an additional $1,000 Canadian.
- The monies will be payable upon the purchaser making application to the Canadian Thoroughbred Horse Society (BC Division). A letter of commitment to race the horse in British Columbia, must accompany the application.
- Application must be made by June 1, 2022.
- Purchasers receiving funds under this program agree that their horse’s papers will be retained by the Race Office at
- Hastings Racecourse and the horse will race exclusively at Hastings Racecourse until the end of the 2022 racing season.
- Repayment of funds received under this program will release the papers allow the horse to run else where.
- This program only applies to purchases made at public auctions outside of the province of British Columbia. Oregon and Washington sales do not qualify.
- Horses foaled in British Columbia are not eligible for this program.
- This program cannot be combined with any other Hastings Incentive programs
