Ontario Racing’s Thoroughbred Improvement Program (TIP) is reporting a 155 per cent increase in the usage of sales credits at the 2022 Canadian Thoroughbred Horse Society’s (CTHS) Canadian Premier Yearling Sale.

A total of $108,500 worth of sales credits were used to purchase 51 different horses at the August 31 sale, an increase of $67,000 from the previous year.

74 different owners or partnerships used or transferred their sales credits, after a robust communications effort by Ontario Racing prior to the sale encouraged horsepeople to take advantage of the sales credits, which expire one year from the date they are earned.

The sales topper, HIP 130 a $115,000 Cairo Prince colt, had sales credits applied to its purchase.

Sales credits can also be used at the CTHS Mixed Sale on October 19 to purchase a yearling. Click here to view the catalogue

Check your up-to-date sales credits as of Sept. 30 on the Thoroughbred Improvement Program website.

Ontario Racing will update the list of sales credits on the morning of the mixed sale, and post to the website and at the sales office.
