Yoshii, a yearling colt by Grade 1 winner Yoshida (Jpn), topped the CTHS Ontario’s Digital Mixed Sale which ended on November 26. The flashy chestnut colt, sold by co-breeder Katie Browne, was purchased for $14,500 by Dominic DiLalla of Centennial Farms Niagara. The yearling is from the Malibu Moon mare Dance Play, whose first three foals to race are winners including Russian Group 1 winning two-year-old of this year, Royal Boy. Brian Bell is also a breeder of the sale-topping colt.
The top yearling filly was an Ami’s Holiday – Luna Blue youngster sold by Northern Dawn Farm, Sherry McLean, agent to Robert Dabdoub, for $11,000.
The highest-priced mare was Spider Dance, who brought a bid of $10,000 from Mary Jane and Irving Langill. Offered by Howard Walton, Spider Dance is a winning Exchange Rate half-sister to stakes winner Baksheesh. She was not in foal.
Ruth Nelson paid $10,000 for a five percent ownership share in one the country’s leading stallions, Reload, sire of champion Patches O’Houlihan.
This was the first digital auction hosted by the CTHS Ontario. There were 34 horses that sold for a gross of $130,750, an average of $3,845 and a median of $2,250.
