Fresh from selling his prized racemare Simply in Front for $2 million at the Keeneland January Sale, John Burness has brought a new stallion to his Colebrook Farms for 2026.
TALE OF SILENCE, a graded stakes-winning miler by Tale of the Cat from the Sunday Silence mare Silence Beauty, will stand his third season at stud at Burness’ Uxbridge Farm. The stallion had previously stood at Darby Dan Farms in Lexington. His first foals are two-year-olds of 2026.
“Tale of Silence has an outstanding pedigree with Northern Dancer on top and Halo on the bottom,” said Burness. “He’s the only son of Tale of the Cat standing in Ontario.”
A full brother to Grade 1 winner, millionaire and successful sire Tale of Ekati, Tale of Silence raced for breeder Charles Fipke and broke his maiden at age two in a six furlong race at Belmont. He rose to graded stakes level as a three-year-old, finishing second to Practical Joke in the Grade 3 Dwyer Stakes at Belmont. At four, he won the Grade 3 Westchester Stakes at Belmont at 1 1/16th miles over Preakness Stakes winner Cloud Computing, among others.
As a five-year-old, Tale of Silence was second in the Grade 2 Gulfstream Park Mile and Grade 3 Bold Ruler Stakes.
In 24 races, Tale of Silence started in 13 graded stakes races at seven different tracks and he posted 90+ Beyer Speed Figures 11 times. He earned $540,382 from three wins and eight other top three placings.
Tale of Silence will stand for $2,500 Canadian, live foal.
