Popular racemare TEPIN’S last foal, DELACROIX, became a Group 1 winner on July 5 when he emerged out of a traffic jam to win the Coral-Eclipse Stakes at Sandown in England.

Delacroix, who flopped in the Epsom Derby (G1) as the favourite, was much happier at the 10 furlong distance of the Coral-Eclipse although jockey Ryan Moore found himself in a jackpot with just over a furlong to run.

As favoured Ombusman worked his way to the lead and appeared on his way to victory, Moore extracted Delacroix, whose sire is Dubawi (Ire), after being boxed in and the pair were up to pip Ombusman on the wire.

Moore told ITV Racing, “It wasn’t the first, second, or third plan, as no one really wanted to make it. William got first run on me, but he’s a very good horse with a mighty turn of foot.

“They went steady for this class of horse, but his turn of foot made the difference.”
