At the annual meeting of Members held on Saturday, June 25, at Woodbine Racetrack in Toronto, three new Stewards and 22 new Members were appointed to The Jockey Club of Canada.
The Jockey Club of Canada is honoured to appoint Nick Eaves, Frank Di Giulio and Robert Krembil to the Board of Stewards for 2011, replacing past Chief Steward Richard Bonnycastle, as well as Glenn Sikura and Harvey Tenenbaum. The Jockey Club of Canada and the Thoroughbred racing and breeding industry are most appreciative of the dedicated service of the retiring Stewards.

Frank Di Giulio operates a small breeding and racing operation which has yielded big results. Successful champions such as Forever Grand, Win City, and Rare Friends have raced under Di Giulio’s silks.
Currently a Director with the CTHS Ontario Division, Frank is proud that he is involved in all aspects of the industry, from breeding mares and standing a stallion (Domasca Dan) to purchasing yearlings and claiming.
Robert C. Krembil is President of Chiefswood Holdings Limited and associated companies, including Chiefswood Stables Limited, a successful racing and breeding outfit which has a substantial investment in the Canadian Thoroughbred industry. Chairman of The Krembil Foundation and a Director and founding partner of EdgePoint Investment Group, Robert, along with his wife, Linda, were awarded the 2008 Outstanding Philanthropist Award for demonstrating outstanding leadership and dedication to a broad array of charities in health care, education and the arts.
The three new Stewards will join Chief Steward, James Lawson, Jeff Begg, Geordie Hendrie, Sue Leslie, Ross McKague, Harvey Warner and Gordon Wilson on the Board of Stewards until the Annual Meeting in 2012.
The Jockey Club of Canada also determined at its annual meeting that it will grow its membership and scope by continuing to add new members who are passionate and dedicated to Thoroughbred racing in Canada in order to maintain the high standards and traditions of Canadian racing.
“Those participating in thoroughbred racing in Canada can now support and participate in an independent national body with the mandate of The Jockey Club of Canada,” commented Chief Steward, James Lawson. “The initiatives of the Club continue to grow with the industry. Funding, support and innovative ideas from dedicated individuals is necessary to ensure the future success of this much needed independent organization.”
