On January 30th, Woodbine Racetrack in Toronto, ON will host an information night for TheStable.ca, a new horse ownership venture launched by Anthony and Amy MacDonald.
The Guelph couple own and train several Standardbred racehorses near Mohawk Racetrack. Anthony is also a prominent driver and a well-known industry advocate.
The information session will focus on the benefits of The Stable for new horse owners — people who would find comfort in the decreased risk and diversity of fractional ownership.
The MacDonalds will also highlight the operation’s transparency, access, and availability of information.
Via the website, owners of horses in The Stable are updated on their horses’ progress through weekly video commentaries from the trainer, vets and blacksmiths, and 360-degree video views of the horses training.
The cost to purchase the horse, and also the flat-rate monthly training fee of $2,000 are shared by the fractional ownership group, where someone could purchase as little as one percent, and as much as 100 percent.
Since its inception just a few months ago, TheStable.ca has attracted 34 investors from across two continents.
“We recently had clients purchase small percentages of horses for family members at Christmas, which we thought was really great to be a part of, said MacDonald.
“Having a family show-up at the barn with kids and grandkids in tow, excited to watch a horse they own one percent of, was something I’ve never seen before.”
MacDonald says the applications for TheStable.ca are far reaching and could end up being a real game changer for an industry in need of an infusion of optimism.
MacDonald’s presentation at Woodbine Racetrack on January 30 will take place from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30p.m. Admission is free, but an RSVP is required by January 28th by contacting Anthony at (519) 400-4263 or Anthony@thestable.ca
