Charlotte Weber’s Live Oak Plantation, trainer Mark Casse and jockey Patrick Husbands won their third stakes race in seven days on June 10 with TICKER TAPE HOME, who took the $125,5000 Fury Stakes at Woodbine. The Fury, for Canadian foaled three-year-old fillies, is the first stepping stone race to the July 23 Woodbine Oaks.

Bred by Sam-Son Farms and bought by Live Oak for a whopping $625,000 at the 2021 Saratoga summer yearling sale, Ticker Tape Home (Medaglia d’Oro – Journey Home by War Front) zipped out of the gate and seized control in the opening stages of the seven-furlong race and held a 1 ½-length advantage after an opening quarter in :23.13. Ticker Tape Home was still running comfortably and was a half-length in front after a half-mile in :45.83 with plenty left in the tank turning for home.

At the head of the lane, it was simply a question of how much the Mark Casse trainee would win by, with the answer coming in the form of a four-length triumph in a time of 1:22.15. Elysian Field and Me and My Shadow finished second and third, respectively, to complete a 1-2-3 parade of Casse-trainees to the finish.

Ticker Tape Home’s winning Beyer Figure, according to Daily Racing Form, was 85.

The Fury win followed Live Oak, Husbands and Casse scores with fillies OUR FLASH DRIVE and SOUPER HOITY TOITY last weekend. Live Oak, Husbands and Casse also won the Ruling Angel Stakes in May with RYDER RYDER RYDER.

Ticker Tape Home won her maiden at seven furlongs on the turf last fall before finishing second by just half a length in the Display Stakes, also at seven furlongs against boys. Her first two races this winter at Tampa Bay Downs were in route events and she was eighth and seventh. The latter outing was in the Grade 3 Florida Oaks, won by current Woodbine Oaks favourite Mission of Joy.

Ticker Tape Home is 2-for 8-in her career with $140,794 in earnings.

Sam-Son Farms purchased the mare Journey Home as a yearling in 2015 for $200,000. The Kentucky-bred never raced in Canada and won the Grade 3 Jimmy Durante Stakes and Christiana Stakes, both on turf. The mare’s first foal is the placed Determined Empire. Journey Home was sold for $650,000 in 2021 in foal to Curlin.

Second dam SOUL SEARCH is a multiple stakes-placed daughter of A.P. Indy and a daughter of SOLAR COLONY, a half-sister to Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1) winner Pleasant Stage and graded stakes winners Colonial Play and Stage Colony.

More from Saturday

Sam-Son Farms, which has dispersed virtually all of its horses, still has a couple of runners and one of them, LAST DAWN, won his maiden on the turf Saturday at Woodbine for trainer Gail Cox. The four-year-old by Violence – Coastal Dawn by Giant’s Causeway was extracted out of traffic by Kazushi Kimura and was up to win the seven furlong turf race by a head over Casse-trainee Direct Drive.

A 1 1/16 mile maiden special weight, race 7, was won by second-time starter TIBURON, a son of Good Magic – Enoree by More Than Ready. A big, dark bay colt owned by Siena Farm and WinStar Farm, Tiburon and jockey Rafael Hernandez powered to a workmanlike victory in 1:45/38 which was a 68 Beyer Figure. A $285,000 yearling purchase, Tiburon was bred by Mark Dodson and he is trained by Kevin Attard.

SPEEDY PAL was a nifty debut winner in race 4, a 5 1/2 furlong race which was a maiden optional claiming race for $40,000. The Souper Speedy – My Pal Ariana by Aragorn (CHI) gelding fought off all challengers after breaking from the rail and won by a neck in 1:04.47 at 10 to 1. Trained by Martin Drexler, Speedy Pal earned a 66 Beyer Figure. This guy was yet another winner bred by Sherry McLean’s Northern Dawn Stables.

All 10 races at Woodbine on Saturday were won by different jockeys including Emma-Jayne Wilson, who won the finale on Richard Hogan and Dan Gale’s DEVIL’S BIT, a filly by Daredevil trained by Roger Attfield.

Trainer Mike McDonald won his first two races of the season with KHOZZY VALINTINE in race 1 and 20-to-1 shot UMNEYAAT, owned by Jefferson Gill, Jamal Watson and Ricardo Sterling.
