Horse racing is returning to the island of St. Lucia in less than two weeks when the inaugural Pitons Cup will be held at the Royal Saint Lucia Turf Club on December 13th. The track has recently hosted four open house sessions and this past weekend the track held two trial races of five horse fields to show fans what to expect.

Participating owners were asked to buy a $20,0000 license which guarantee entry into the $150,000 Pitons Cup, a 9 furlong race on dirt. The licensee was gift a thoroughbred selected by Royal Saint Lucia Turf Club from a pool of 12 unraced 3 yos that had been in training in Florida and shipped to Saint Lucia.
