On Tues, July 21, Fort Erie Race Track was to be hosting a Massachusetts-bred Stakes race for the first time. The Rise Jim Stake’s six contenders were on a van coming from Finger Lakes, NY, but due to a series of circumstances, the horses were not able to get to the track in time for the Lasix deadline of 11:30 a.m. The race was cancelled.

The race is expected to be rescheduled for July 28.

The Rise Jim offers a $35,000 guaranteed purse. The race is for four-year-olds and upwards, foaled in Massachusetts and registered with the Massachusetts Thoroughbred Breeders Association (MTBA).
