Woodbine Entertainment today released an updated list of Canadian-bred three-year-olds eligible to the 160th running of the $1 million Queen’s Plate set for June 29.
A total of 52 three-year-olds have been nominated to the 1 1/4-mile opening leg of the Canadian Triple Crown following the May 1 sustaining payment deadline, including four supplements Bitethebulletbro, One Bad Boy, Rising Star and Suitedconnected.
The Sovereign Award-winning colt Avie’s Flatter continues to the headline the list of eligibles and will be running in today’s Grade 2 American Turf Presented by Ram Trucks over 1-1/16 miles on the Kentucky Derby undercard at Churchill Downs for Ontario owner/breeder Ivan Dalos and trainer Josie Carroll. The Flatter-Avie’s Empire colt went three-for-four and earned more than $250,000 during a juvenile campaign that included back-to-back victories at Woodbine in the Cup and Saucer Stakes over 1-1/16 miles of turf and the Coronation Futurity over 1-1/8 miles on the Tapeta. He kicked off his sophomore campaign a month ago winning the Grade 3 Kentucky Utilities Transylvania Stakes over 1-1/16 miles on the turf at Keeneland.
Chiefswood Stables’ homebred Bold Script is among six fillies nominated to the Queen’s Plate and 28 fillies that remain eligible for the 64th running of the $500,000 Woodbine Oaks Presented by Budweiser on June 8. The Speightstown-Original Script filly won the Princess Elizabeth Stakes over 1-1/16 miles last year at Woodbine and was named Champion Two-Year-Old Female for trainer Stuart Simon.
An additional $10,000 payment or supplementary fee of $25,000 is due upon entry to the Queen’s Plate on Wednesday, June 26 by 8:30 a.m.
