Heading into the second weekend of 2022, the racing in Florida is beginning to heat up while heavy snow has played havoc with racing and the Keeneland January Sale, set to begin Jan. 10.

Aqueduct canceled racing on Jan. 7 (Friday) due to the weather but it is in Kentucky where the snow has piled up. Shipping horses to the Keeneland sales grounds was delayed and there is a possibility that the sale start could be delayed.

Meanwhile, many Canadian horsepeople and horses who headed to the US to race are competing in Florida and Arizona. The Gulfstream meeting in Hallandale is beginning to gear up towards the Pegasus World Cup and Pegasus Turf on January 29.
