MIGHTY HEART’s Prince of Wales victory at Fort Erie was one of the most exciting races in Canada last week – heartwarming, too, as the family of Larry Cordes, who resides in Port Perry, ON surrounded their remarkable one-eyed colt in the winner’s circle.

At Century Mile, REAL GRACE won the Canadian Derby (G3) for Shelley Brown, who is battling cancer and two Ontario owners/breeders won their first stakes races on Sunday at Woodbine.

But what about the scintillating victory by BE VEWY VEWY QUIET at Fort Erie on Sept. 28?

The Silent Name (Jpn) – Advanced Green by Malibu Moon 5-year-old, making his first start on the dirt and first start for owner/trainer Jeff Voyce, won a 6 1/2 furlong optional claiming race by 8 lengths in 1:15.53, just missing the track record of 1:15.22.

He posted a 97 Beyer Speed Figure, 29 points higher than his previous race and 15 points higher than his previous career best. The stakes winner was claimed by Voyce from a route race at Woodbine for $7,500 Sept. 11.

Be Vewy Vewy Quiet was bred by Peri, D’Onofrio and Frank DiGuilio who raced the bay fellow through Sept. 11.

The very  popular 10-year-old CONSTANTINO has been retired according to trainer Julie Mathes. The amazing gelding by Master Command – Simply Stylish by Stormy Atlantic strained a suspensory in a turf race at Fort Erie Sept. 28.

Bred by Penny and Manfred Conrad, Constantino won his career debut in May 2014 and made 17 starts for the Conrads before he was claimed in May 2017 by trainer Norm McKnight.

The chestnut gelding with lots of white markings changed barns in the fall of 2018 to Willie Armata and then returned to McKnight. He was claimed by the Martin Drexler stable in December 2019 and then claimed by Mathes and Joey Gee Thoroughbreds Aug. 29 of this year.

In 55 races, the hard-trying Constantino won 16 races and placed in 15 others, earning over $506,000(US).
