On August 1, 2018, the Canadian Animal Health Surveillance System has confirmed a case of West Nile Virus (WNV) in a four and a half-year-old Quarter Horse mare in Orkney, Saskatchewan. The mare was treated and survived.
Two days earlier, a six-year-old Quarter Horse mare was euthanized after being diagnosed with WNV, at a farm in Prairie Rose, SK.
