The Ontario CTHS is pleased to announce the winning recipients of the Ontario Sired Racing Rewards Program, representing racing excellence of Ontario-Sired performers in Ontario Black Type races for 2010.
Sand Cove, a multiple Stakes winner and CTHS Yearling Sale Graduate, has been named the Overall Champion of the Ontario Sired Racing Rewards Program. The six-year-old son of Bold Executive collected $379,055 in Stakes earnings this past racing season, as well as achieved first place wins in the Grade 3 Seagram Cup, Sir Barton, Overskate, and Steady Growth Stakes at Woodbine.
Bred in Ontario by James and Janeane Everatt and J. Arika Everatt-Meeuse, Sand Cove was a $60,000 purchase by Ralph Johnson at the 2006 Selected Yearling Sale and currently has career earnings of nearly $1 million. In addition to Sand Cove, seven of the 12 winning recipients are CTHS Yearling Sale graduates, including Ontario-Breds Tree Pose, Lucky Be Me, Celtic Conviction, Jacally, Dancing Raven, Race for Gold, and Bent Attorney.
Rewarding BT racing performance at Woodbine and Fort Erie Racetracks, the Ontario breeders’ bonus program consists of six divisions offering $10,000 and a $2,000 OSS Stallion Breeding Certificate for first place, and $5,000 cash and a $1,000 OSS Stallion Breeding Certificate to second place recipients. In addition, an award in the amount of $10,000 and a $2,000 OSS Breeding Certificate is presented to the breeder of the Overall Ontario-Sired Champion.
