Of the 29 races run, 23 were won by different trainers with those having multiple wins being Kevin Attard (3), Ian Black, 2, Ashlee Brnjas, 2, Paul Butigieg, 2 and Robert Tiller, 2.

Two stakes races on the weekend were won by Ontario bred DUN DRUM, who took the Vice Regent Stakes for owners Barbara Brown, Joan Addison and Janet Black. Trained by Ian Black, the hard trying Bold ‘n Flashy fellow was ridden to the minute by Emma-Jayne Wilson.

LIFT UP, invading for Augustin Stable and trainer Michael Dickonson, won the Belle Mahone overnight stake on Sunday under Patrick Husbands. The 5-year-old mare is by Ghostzapper and she was a June 2 foal.

Husbands has won 12 stakes races this year and leads all riders in that category.

American trainers Teresa Connelly and Arnaud Delacour each shipped in horses to win. The former sent the 2-year-old gelding CADET CONNELLY to win a maiden allowance at 1 mile and 70 yards miles on the Tapeta under Jesse Campbell for Endeavor Bloodstock. The youngster is by Grey Swallow.

The 2-year-old filly split of the 1 mile and 70 yard maiden race was won in very fast time by CURLIN’S VOYAGE, a Curlin filly who was bred in Ontario and won by 4 3/4 lengths in 1:43.21. This gal is owned by Hill ‘n’ Dale Equine Holdings and Windsor Boys Racing.

The 29 races run over the three days also included 20 run on the E P Taylor or inner turf.

The highest Beyer Speed Figure from Friday or Saturday was 91 earned by the promising Stronach Stables fellow JUNGLE FIGHTER (Animal Kingdom), who won a turf allowance race.

There were somber moments, however, as two horses succumbed to leg injuries on Sunday. NOTICE ME,  an Ontario bred Court Vision filly with 2 wins in 9 starts for Kingfield Racing and P Fuller, broke down on the Taylor turf course in race 1 as the even money favourite.

Emma-Jayne Wilson was taken to hospital with pain in a shoulder.

Later, Chiefswood Stables’ FINAL RHAPSODY, a promising 2-year-old by Munnings, broke down in his second career start as the ven-money favourite. He was trained by Roger Attfield.
