Toronto, On – There is still time to enter the 2009 edition of the Woodbine Thoroughbred Handicapping Challenge, which begins this Saturday. The two-day challenge asks participants to handicap cards from Woodbine, Fort Erie, Saratoga and Arlington Park.
Each player starts Saturday and Sunday with a bankroll of $40. Using only Win and/or Place wagers, the objective is to finish the weekend with the highest bankroll combining the two days.
New this year, contestants are able to reinvest the dividends from their winning wagers and further grow their bankroll during the course of each contest day.
Also for the first time in Woodbine’s Thoroughbred Handicapping Challenge, contest players will be playing with real cash. Each player buys in with a $250 entry fee and the $80 that makes up their bankroll. Each entrant keeps their accumulated winnings at the end of each contest day.
The contest will take place in Woodbine’s east-end Trackside Tent and participants will place their contest bets at special terminals using a personal, password-protected account card. The standings will be tabulated automatically and broadcast on a special in-house channel.
If the maximum 275 spots are filled, the grand prize will be approximately $28,000. The top three finishers also receive a berth in the DRF/NTRA National Handicapping Championship in 2010. The top 10 spots pay cash.
The deadline to enter is this Friday, August 28 at 4:00 pm.
