QUEEN’S PLATE 154 TO BE RUN ON JULY 7
9 days and counting!
WOODBINE’s backstretch opens on March 1 and what a relief it will be to have some normalcy return to an industry that has rocked from its foundation over the last 12 months and harshly in the last 2 months.
However, racing dates are out, stakes schedule soon to follow so it won’t be long before we are back doing what we love.
According to Value4money.ca, the Queen’s Plate will be run at Woodbine on July 7 this year, one week later than it has been in recent years.
That is certainly because the training and racing for the 2013 season at Woodbine is beginning later.
Only 133 racing dates have been requested by Woodbine (pending ORC approval).
There is no longer any racing on Thursdays.
Live Thoroughbred racing begins Saturday, April 20 to Sunday, December 15. Racing is scheduled for 1:00pm every Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Holiday Monday (May 20, July 1, August 5, September 2, October 14) for the entire meet.
Wednesday night racing will begin on June 5 and be conducted throughout the season, except July 3, August 7, September 4 and October 16 (the Wednesdays after the Holiday Monday) and have a post time of 6:45pm.

UNCAPTURED POINTED TO SPIRAL MARCH 23
Canadian-bred UNCAPTURED is pointing to the Spiral Stakes at Turfway Park, rather than the Rushaway Stakes, for owner John Oxley in order to try and gain some points for the Kentucky Derby. This was reported by DRF’s Mike Welsch.
Meanwhile, Oxley’s fab Canadian-bred 3yo filly SPRING IN THE AIR worked 5 furlongs in a quick 59 flat at Ocala Training Centre on Wednesday as she prepares for her 2013 campaign.
