PERFECT!
Recent claim wins maiden zooms into Plate picture
PERFECT TAY landed himself on the short list of current QUEEN’S PLATE contenders with a gritty maiden win in his 2nd career start at Gulfstream yesterday/ The chestnut son of Perfect Soul (Ire) – Loch Tay, by Rahy was up to win by a neck with a 79 Beyer Figure in the 1 1/16 mile grass race.
The colt was a $75,000 claim from his career debut by True North Stable and trainer Lorne Richards. Charles Fipke was the owner and breeder.
PERFECT TAY is the 3rd foal of LOCH TAY. The mare is by RAHY out of DURRAH, a Nijinsky II – Special mare who was a minor winner and a half sister to Nureyev.
DURRAH produced 7 minor winners and the unraced LOCH TAY, the dam of PERFECT TAY.
PERFECT TAY’S older full brother PERFECT LOCH was once through to be a Plate hopeful in 2010 as he won his debut at 2 turns in 2009 but he did not get into the 80s in Beyer Figures under July.

PERFECT TAY (c, 3, PerfectSoul {Ire}–Loch Tay, by Rahy) came from out of the clouds to be a good second
over this course and trip Feb. 18 and was granted a 3-1 chance to get the job done here. Settled in a close-up
second through opening splits of :29.97 and :49.84, the chestnut temporarily found himself back in fourth
and Act of War (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) and Grouse (Street Cry {Ire}) got the jump on him, but he battled back
along the inside to outslug the giant striding Night Site (Giant’s Causeway) by a neck at the wire.
Lifetime Record: 2-1-1-0, $33,660.

QUEEN’S PARK RALLY
everyone in horse racing come on down!
from Standardbred Canada: On the heels of a rally held at Queen’s Park in February, a second rally has been confirmed for Monday, March 26 at Queen’s Park (front lawn – 110 Wellesley Street, Toronto) from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. and the Ontario Harness Horse Association would like to extend an invitation to all individuals involved in, and concerned about, the racing industry in Ontario to attend.
This rally has been scheduled to emphasize once more the importance of the horse racing industry, the economic benefits it contributes to the Province of Ontario, and to provide information regarding the far-reaching adverse results should the Liberal government of Ontario persist in its plan to end the slots-at-racetracks program as currently in place with 17 racetracks in the province.
It is imperative we impress upon the MPPs of our province the magnitude of the trickle-down effects of this ill-conceived initiative which will be devastating and very widely felt.
Bus transportation is in the organizational stages and departure points and times and will be announced as soon as they become available.
