Time to put down some selections for the first four (4) Breeders’ Cup races, which begin at Santa Anita in RACE 6 with a post time of 5:25 p.m. EST
I have strong opinions on three of these Cup races as the Juvenile Fillies Turf is a very difficult race to sort out.
GOOD SAMARITAN was jaw-dropping as he reached out and gobbled up the Santa Anita turf in a recent workout for trainer Bill Mott. His Summer Stakes win was a key race as TIZ A SLAM came out of it to win the Cup & Saucer Stakes and is one of the best 2yos in Canada. Brian Lynch trainee OSCAR PERFORMANCE is also very, very good.

I will find it hard to believe if DORTMUND does not crush here unless he is so despondent about chasing California Chrome around that he is pooped out. RUNHAPPY? Geez, could be long gone and never look back, could be a train wreck. I have a shrewd handicapping friend who likes Tamarkuz.

This race is a wild event with many Euro’s and a whole bunch of US horses who look the same. Many have peaked to a new top in their latest start. Heard a lot of good things about SPAIN BURG from the Euro-tipsters, INTRICATELY looks like a decent runner too and LA CORONEL is probably a serious player but that is not a great post.

Who doesn’t love SONGBIRD? She has never lost and this is her first try against older mares. I am taking the stance that STELLAR WIND and BEHOLDER are simply a bit better than her. It is one of the gems of the 2-day series and it would be neat to see all three right there ar the wire.
